Seminar
on Time ~ If we Have Any.
1.
Define
time. This may take some time…
2.
List
factors that effect your perception of time.
3.
Would
you call time liberating or
imprisoning? Explain.
4.
What
are the most compelling reasons for marking time?
5.
How
is time measured? What instruments,
signs, constructs, paradigms, fixed heavenly bodies, or institutions are used
or relied upon?
6.
Describe
the changes that would occur in your lives if time were compressed, or
stretched out, or stopped. Which would you prefer, and why?
7.
Why
do writers and artists distort time?
8.
In
the work we have just read, how does the writer manipulate time?
9.
How
do the central characters respond or react to the alteration or distortion of
their time?
10.
Ponder
this carefully: how would the work’s theme have been less obvious if time had
been a reliable, predictable element in his/her/their lives?
